Melt butter, syrup and brown sugar over medium heat, and remove the pan.
Mix cinnamon, cloves, grated orange peel, ginger, allspice, almonds and wheat flour together in a bowl.
Dissolve the potash in 1 tbsp. orange juice and stir in the pan with the flour and spice mixture until well mixed.
Shape the dough into rounds and oblongs in the thickness you want your cookies to be. Roll a piece of baking paper tightly around the dough so that it holds its shape. Place the dough in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours before cutting out the cookies.
Cut thin slices of brownies and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
Bake in a preheated oven at 175 degrees hot air for about 6 minutes. Keep an eye on them.
